The nucleus of the company was the initiative of five dermatologists and a pharmacist. They wanted to develop formulae for skincare products that could be recommended to patients with a clear conscience. Today DERMASENCE is one of the leading brands in pharmacy cosmetics. Much has changed since then, the number of employees has increased continuously and the programme has grown to over 60 products. In the three decades since its founding in 1991, however, one guiding principle has always remained: The consistent focus on effectiveness and tolerability.

DERMASENCE products are developed in the company headquarters in Münster and manufactured in Germany. Nationwide, around 200 employees work for DERMASENCE. The over 60 medical skin care products are distributed exclusively through pharmacies - in addition to Germany, DERMASENCE is also available in Austria, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. In this way, a competent, customer-oriented consultation is guaranteed. Every day, dermatologists and pharmacists recommend DERMASENCE's medical skincare. Advice in the pharmacy plays a special role here. A broad qualification programme supports the pharmacies as local contacts.
2024 - Handover of the management
After around 30 years, Detlef Isermann hands over the management of the manufacturing company Medicos Kosmetik GmbH & Co. KG to Philipp Beckmann. The business economist has been working for DERMASENCE in a managerial role for many years and is supported by a multi-professional management team - with experienced department heads from the company's various specialist disciplines.
2023 - Move into the new building
The 9,000 square metre company site in Münster's harbour district is being expanded to include a climate-friendly new building. It will provide space for all 180 employees. With four storeys and around 3,000 square metres of space, the company has expanded significantly to accommodate the dynamic growth of recent years.
2022 - Redesign and regrouping
13 years after the last redesign, DERMASENCE products shine in a new, modern look. The subtle design adjustment reflects a key quality of the brand: DERMASENCE moves with the times while remaining true to itself.
Along with the redesign, many products have been given new names and integrated into existing product ranges. This creates clear ranges for dedicated skin types that enable a holistic skincare routine. We strengthen the recognition value of the series with target group-specific faces and individual colour schemes.
2021 - Opening of the Medicos Science Centre and 30th anniversary
DERMASENCE celebrates the opening of a unique centre of excellence in Bernburg, Saxony-Anhalt: The Medicos Science Center uses a highly specialised extraction process to create particularly effective and compatible active ingredients for medical skincare products.
The opening also marks the start of the company's 30th anniversary.
2018 - DERMASENCE premiere on TV
DERMASENCE flickers across the screens - the first TV campaign will expand brand awareness from October 2018. The focus: DERMASENCE's system approach - embodied by likeable protagonists with different skin needs. This makes it clear that DERMASENCE offers medical skincare for the whole family - recommended by dermatologists and available in pharmacies.
2018 - Medicos Science Centre
As a centre of excellence for the future of medical skincare, the subsidiary pools scientific expertise and production processes in the field of plant-based active ingredients.
The initial impetus for the foundation was provided by Vitop forte skincare cream, for which woad extract was used for the first time in medical skincare. In future, DERMASENCE will increasingly utilise medicinal plants in innovative ways.
2018 - Launch of the RosaMin series
The DERMASENCE RosaMin products have been specially developed for redness-prone, sensitive and reactive skin and thus form a further component in the system care for healthy skin. The skincare series is now one of DERMASENCE's most popular product ranges.
Since 2016 - Internationalisation
Whether in Vienna or Amsterdam - DERMASENCE is increasingly conquering pharmacy shelves abroad. The highly compatible cosmetics from Germany are increasingly in demand.
DERMASENCE has been represented in Austria for several years now and the number of pharmacies that include our medical skincare in their range is growing steadily. DERMASENCE and its ‘missie gezonde huid’ have also found more and more fans among our neighbours in the Netherlands since its launch in 2017.
2016 - 25 years of DERMASENCE
For more than 25 years, the DERMASENCE team has been pursuing the mission of healthy skin and successfully developing medical skincare made in Germany.
In 2016, the company achieved a record-breaking 25 per cent increase in sales. "This is a great incentive for the whole team and shows that the philosophy behind our brand, which primarily stands for tolerability and effectiveness, is well received by customers in pharmacies," says (former Managing) Partner Detlef Isermann.
2013 - Move back to Münster
After 13 years, the company returns from Telgte to Münster. The company's success story continues on Hafengrenzweg: In figures, this means an investment volume of 2.5 to 3.0 million euros. The new company premises cover around 9,000 square metres and offer a hall area of 3,600 square metres. A new, larger laboratory was also set up as part of the remodelling work.
2009 - Brand relaunch
With a new logo, fresh design and the slogan "Healthy skin with a system", the company is positioning its medical skin care programme for the future. A colour code serves as a guidance system for dermatologists, pharmacists and patients to help them make the right choice for their skin type. DERMASENCE becomes the "family name" for all products in the skincare range. This means that the DERMATEST Adtop cream will also be "rebranded" after more than 15 years.
2000 - Move to Telgte
The Münster premises soon became too small and after nine years in Münster, the company moved to the surrounding area, or more precisely to Telgte, in 2000. As the variety of products, number of employees and turnover increased, the company building on site was extended several times.
1992 - The first products
The product design was "très chic" and black, the brand core was medically orientated right from the start: The first pharmacy campaign - at that time still under the name Dermatest - drew the attention of pharmacy customers to the brand. The Adtop cream for dry skin quickly became a classic in medical skin care.
1991 - Foundation in Münster, Germany
Five dermatologists and a pharmacist launch the company. The aim: to develop formulations that can be recommended to patients with a clear conscience. Their initiative marks the birth of a brand that still stands for dermatological expertise today. In the pioneering years, a team of five worked in a residential area in the centre of Münster in Germany.
